My configure command:
./configure --enable-track-vars --with-mysql --with-xml --with-dom
After a few abortive configure tries, I got the php4 CVS
to build under LinuxPPC by changing -lgz in the configure
script to -lz so that it could run the xmlNewDoc test
program. (The gzxxx() functions are in -lz, not -lgz.
I had more trouble getting this to build under Solaris, though, because
I didn't have -lxml, it seems. After a bit of searching around, I found
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/stable/sources/libxml/, which seems to
work, but is there a more canonical location for the source? After
installing this (and infozip zlib) I was able to build it (once again,
after changing -lgz to -lz in the configure script).
Perhaps it would make sense for configure to run a test for the man of
the compression library, rather than assuming the name "-lgz"?
Anyway, I've got it built on both systems now and tests/testdom runs.
It looks like this will be a very cool addition to PHP 4!
