with-apxs compile problemss

Hello, following the installation instuctions to the letter something strange happened while doing: ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local --with-imap=/usr/local --with-apxs=/usr/local/newapache/bin/apxs produced this message: WARNING: Your /usr/local/newapache/bin/apxs script is most likely broken. checking the php faq it says: ... and check for these lines: my $CFG_CFLAGS_SHLIB = ' '; # substituted via Makefile.tmpl my $CFG_LD_SHLIB = ' '; # substituted via Makefile.tmpl my $CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB = ' '; # substituted via Makefile.tmpl but the file apache produced from me was: my $CFG_CFLAGS_SHLIB = q(); # substituted via Makefile.tmpl my $CFG_LD_SHLIB = q(); # substituted via Makefile.tmpl my $CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB = q(); # substituted via Makefile.tmpl substituting the values as instructed I still get the same error. Redhat 6.1 , linux 2.2.14 i386 P.s I also substituted the redhat specific stuff. no change. All I raelly want to do is use versioning so I can run php3 and php4 concurrently. If this can be done the old fashioned (which I love) way of editing the Configuration file in the source directory please show me the way. Thanks.
