Implementing DB Connection Pooling for multi process servers like apache
is IMHO out of question.
For PHP4 and multithreaded servers like IIS or Apache 2.0, it is much
easier to implement.
What is basically needed is a global resource list accessible to all
threads and some kind of locking.
Ideally, to adapt the various db modules, only a different function call
would be necessary in the modules connect routine (Could be a define
depending on whether compiling PHP multithreaded or not).
