Which would be? Stat returns different results on different
architectures - IRIX and the BSDs for example have extra microtiming
fields outside of a POSIX context, and have some file system and block
info dangling at the end of the struct. Restricting it to the POSIX stat
struct might be a compromise, but returning a named array would make
matters easier, especially for non-Unix ports.
