When I installed PHP4 (from a very recent CVS-checkout), the
configuration process didn't like the way my IMAP stuff was installed.
I had the library in /usr/lib and the header files in /usr/include/imap
This setup seems like it will become the default situation in both Linux
Red Hat 6.2 and SuSE Linux (and probably others); in RH 6.2, these IMAP
parts are distributed as an "imap-devel" package (supplements the "imap"
package for people who will not do any compiling).
My quick solution was to copy the c-somthing.a file to /usr/include/imap
and tell the ./configure script to look in /usr/include/imap.
It would be very nice if the configuration script could somehow handle
the upcoming situation where a large number of Linux folks have the imap
development files split up in a library (in the usual library location)
and a directory of include files.
