Your memory could be going for 'cache'. It is normal for a system to get to the point
where their is very little physical memory remaining, after running for a while. If, however, when
you run top it does not show the memory under 'cache', then you might look for a program
that is leaking. Having the OS use memory for cache, rather than leaving it as 'free mem'
actually improves performance. If the memory is needed elsewhere, it can be reallocated.
If you have reason to feel that something is leaking memory, capture the results of top, with memory
usage stats and do the same several days later. If you see a program that started with 5M and after
a few days has 200M, it could very well be your culprit.

Hi,there
I have one server(Linux6.0+Apache+PHP+Mysql).
First I have 256M memory(from "top" result), then
after a few days, it just 3M memory left, then always
about 3M .If I reboot the computer, it changed to
256M.
But I can see it reduce little by little, then about
3M
again. I have about 128M swap. And I want to know the
reason for that.
Thanx in advance
alex
