Session Problems/Cookies????

I am trying sessions on PHP4 for the first time, and am running into session expiration problems.
It seems that the session cookies are not expiring for 7.5 hours, which is totally incorrect, as I
set the lifetime variable
in PHP.INI to be 30 minutes.
How can I fix this on my server?
