After the problems I experienced, I have switched from the ISAPI PHP to the
CGI version. While it didn't do anything good for speed it eliminated the
reliability problems I had been having.
Unfortunately, I've reproduced what looks like bug ID 3041 on my NT box with
4.0 RC1. Test scripts are available at
http://gateway.digitaria.com/users/chris/php_bug_3041.zip
if necessary but
it's unfortunately very easy to reproduce. Basically submitting more than a
few thousand bytes in a form will cause the CGI php.exe to hang - no CPU
usage and no response until IIS kills the process. So I'm in the situation of
needing the PHP CGI for reliability but being unable to use it with the
forms.
Right now I'm looking at configuring a separate virtual host which will use
the ISAPI DLL for the admin areas (which are the only pages using forms), but
I was wondering if anyone had a better way of doing this.
