I have installed PHP4 with Informix support when it was in BETA form.
However, I have not installed PHP4 with both Informix and MySQL, so I don't
know if both will work. Theoretically speaking they both should work.
To install PHP4 with Informix you need native Informix code on the machine
you wish to run your PHP4 stuff on. When PHP4 compiles it needs the install
directory your Informix database (usually /opt/informix by default). You'll
also have to set a one or two environment variables as well (INFORMIXDIR for
sure, and possibly INFORMIXSERVER). INFORMIXDIR should be set to
/opt/informix or whatever directory is the base install path for your
Informix directory.
So to compile PHP4 from the command line you would type.
./configure --your-options --with-informix=/opt/informix
or
./configure --your-options --with-informix=yes (only if you have
INFORMXIDIR set to the correct path.)
That's the extent of my knowledge.

Subject: [PHP4BETA] PHP4 and Informix
Hello everyone,
This may be a case of RTFM, and if so, don't be afraid to tell me.
What I'm wondering is if there's any easy-to-understand reference anywhere
to setup Informix support in PHP. I have a remote Informix server that I
want to run queries on using my RH Linux webserver. The server is already
configured with apache, php4 and MySQL. Is it just a matter of
recompiling/reinstalling PHP4 with a switch for informix support? After
recompiling and reinstalling with both database interfaces work? Would it be
easier to install a separate webserver with Informix support?
So, yeah, I have a lot of questions. =)
Any answers?
Cheers,
