Problems getting PHP running as a Dynamic Module

Hi!
(I'm pretty new to this)
Ive installed Apache 1.3.12 with mod_ssl sucessfully.
After installing and testing apache + mod_ssl I wrote :
./configure --with-apxs=/[my_apachepath]/bin/apxs --with-xml
make
make install
when starting apache after the installation I get the following
errormessage:
Syntax error on line 239 of /usr/apche/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/apche/libexec/libphp4.so into server: ld.so.1:
/usr/apche/bin/httpd: fatal: relocation error: file
/usr/apche/libexec/libphp4.so: symbol __muldi3: referenced symbol not
found
./apachectl startssl: httpd could not be started
Anyone? Are there alot of known problem with running php4 as a dynamic
module or?
Any help is appreciated,
