Can someone with some familiarity with apache and php4's dso model
have a look? I'm still banging on the same problem, and want to
take one more shot at figuring it out before I give up (I've noticed
one or two people on dejanews and a couple on this list with the problem
too, but haven't found any answers).
In brief:
# uname -a
SunOS charlotte.ucsd.edu 5.6 Generic_105181-19 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-1
apache 1.3.12, php4 (tried both RC1 and a snapshot, php4-200004141345)
Created and installed apache with mod-so (shows up with httpd -l)
Created and installed php4
With libphp4 LoadModule line in apache's conf file, the httpd startup dies:
Cannot load /web/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: ld.so.1:
/web/apache/bin/httpd: fatal: relocation error:
file /web/apache/libexec/libphp4.so:
symbol ap_block_alarms: referenced symbol not found
"nm" on libexec/libphp4.so shows:
U ap_block_alarms
"nm" on the httpd binary shows:
00048458 T ap_block_alarms
So, if it *is* defined in the original binary (which is what the above
shows, right?), what would cause the complaint when it tries to link
with the library? As this point, the apache apxs/dso stuff is still
a bit mysterious to me.
FYI, my config flags for apache:
./configure \
"--prefix=/web/apache-1.3.12" \
"--with-layout=Apache" \
"--enable-module=so" \
"--enable-module=auth_dbm"
and php4:
./configure \
--with-apxs=/web/apache-1.3.12/bin/apxs \
--prefix=/web/php-4-snap \
--disable-debug
Thanks for any hints.
