Hello:
Thought that I'd give the list a try, and I've been searching around the
various PHP sites and mailing list archives without any luck so far.
Last night, I've installed the following:
PHP4 Release Candidate 1
MySQL v3.23 (source code)
Apache v1.3.12 (source code)
I was able to compile all the goods. I've managed to eventually tie PHP
using the --with-Apache=/dir and --with-mysql=/path as required. Then I've
invoked both the Apache and the MySQL servers. Then I tried the phpinfo()
function as a test. It was able to display the extensions, but the MySQL
extension was missing.
I've combed over the two books that I have to see if I was missing anything,
and they were lacking in info on the things I should look for to solve my
problem. As noted before, the online searches were hit-and-miss but nothing
in the way of a solution.
I'd appreciate the assistance, as I'm a bit flattened out going on wild
goose chases with this one. I'm most anxious to get down to the nitty-gritty
and learn how to use PHP and MySQL. Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Velanche
