strange problem with RC2 and die()

Hi
I've a very strange problem with die()
when i try:
if(failure)
{
echo "test1";
die();
}
it works
but when i change the statement to:
if(failure)
{
echo "...test2...";
die();
}
php returns the first code...
When i remove die() ... it works ok and gives me "...test2...."
after that i put die() back and it returns again "test1"
