I found the code on my own for listing the news groups off you NNTP server, i used an undocumented
function called imap_list
here is the code
$nntp=imap_open("{localhost/nntp:119}","","",OP_ANONYMOUS|OP_HALFOPEN);
$group_lst=imap_list($nntp, '{localhost/nntp:119}','*');
for($i=0;$i<count($group_lst);$i++) { echo $group_lst[$i].'<br>'; }
