I just said that ease of use comes first. I know
from personal experience and from the PHPLIB mailing
list that many people have problems with the concept
of persistence. They rely on being able to read what
the serialization process reads and writes in some
form of the other.
Either provide an easy to read for of serialized data
as the default (with the option of using another, faster
format, if explicitly requested; and have the
unserialization detect and read either) or provide
a nice debugging interface. If the debugging interface
is just another phpinfo table, you should consider
adding an optional parameter to phpinfo() so that
it is possible to have phpinfo() show only selected
info boxes (with the default being "show all").
