min() function stops on arrays...

Hi there In my script I gather some integers into a array called $patpos. Then I search for the lowest integer in that array : $patpos = min($patpos); And I'm supposed to have the lowest value in the $patpos (I know it's not an array anymore) - but this does work only if there's one element in the array.
