install problem

using FreeBSD 4.0 installed i do this step:
apache directory:
./configure --prefix=/www
php directory:
./configure --with-mysql --with-apache=../apache --enable=track-vars
make
make install
then at apache direcotory:
./configure --prefix=/www --activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a
make
make install
then setup php3.ini and httpd.conf at apache
i did this about 5 times, but still i don't have apache+php3+mysql
working together.
and Using package apache+php also couldn't make it connected to mysql.
Do i have to compile to make apache+php+database working together, or
there is a way to make it work
