The move from PHP 3.0 to PHP 4.0 is supposed to be transparent at well over 99.9% once the release version is out. You're messing with betas, and one of the biggest reasons for this beta is for people to report problems and incompatibilities they discover, so that by the time the release version is out, they're fixed.
Nonetheless, there won't be 100.0% compatibility. Some stuff is just not feasible with the new architecture, and some stuff has to change in order to allow for a stronger language. Still, the fact huge libraries like PHPlib, and many web sites including very complex ones (like the PHP web site, or webdev.berber.co.il) run on PHP 4.0 without having to change a single line of code, suggest we're definitely in the right direction.
If you can pinpoint an incompatibility, let us know. If you can't pinpoint it, let us know also so we can try to help you (but do try to reduce the problem as much as you can!).

It'snot right now, I have one program in particular that does not work with php4, it is very complicated with over 1300 lines and I am going to have fun debugging it. I am not complaining, I will do this happily for the advantage of moving to php4, but still....the point is that from what I read php4 is supposed to be backwards compatible???-Buddybourbon@netvision.net.il wrote: On Fri, 2 Jul 1999, Sascha Schumann wrote:Semantically nothing changed, both "0" and "" are false.
