Linux PHP4 and --with-oracle=/orahome -> Apache refuses to config ure the module

When I do this
./configure --prefix=/www --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
It fails when performing the sanity check on the compiler.
I configured and make'd PHP4 beta with this
./configure --with-oracle --with-apache=../apache_1.3.x --enable-track-vars
But, when I get done making and make installing PHP4, and then go back to
apache, and run the ./configure with the module activated, it doesn't
work.........
Ideas?
