Hi,
I've been thinking about the possibility to add a PHP extension
that allows communication with OpenStep/GNUstep objects in the
same fashion as the COM extension does for COM objects.
It would provide an interface to the NSConnection class,
allowing PHP to send messages to objects located anywhere in
the local network.
Has anyone thought of doing this before? Has anyone tried
doing it? Or done it? Any thoughts on it that you'd like
to share?
I read through the COM ext source, and although I understand what
most of it does, I must say that the extension API to PHP is
frightingly complex.
In general, what this extension should allow is something like
this:
$logger = new OpenStep("Log Daemon", "loghost.php.net");
/* A non-blocking message */
$logger->OneWay(TRUE);
$logger->Log("Hello world");
/* A blocking message, wait for the reply */
$logger->OneWay(FALSE);
$status=$logger->Status();
