According to the documentation, there is a garbage collector (gc) function that is supposed to go and clean up old sessions, and there are configuration options for the gc function in the php.ini file. However, according to the bug database (see bug id #2216), the garbage collector is not working properly in PHP4.0 Beta 2, but has been fixed in the latest CVS.
So you have several options, you can explicitly delete sessions using the session_destroy() function in your PHP code, you can upgrade to the latest CVS, or you could wait until a new beta is released. I suppose you could also write a script (using cron) that would go through your temp directory and have it delete any old sessioin files.
Hope this helps,

Hi all, My question is not as technically advance as other conversations carry around here. So please excuse me :) I was about how the file created in /tmp by session are managed? is there a variable i can set so the files are delete after a certain amount of time? Thanks for your time..
