Cris--
I needed mcrypt for a project I'm using PHP 4.0B2 with... so I was concerned
when I saw your message.
So, I tried it myself. Bottom line: it worked for me. I'm using SuSE 6.2
with Apache 1.3.6, PHP 4.0B2 as a module, and lib-mcrypt 2.2. Build mcrypt,
build PHP, built Apache and tried the code from the PHP manual. It worked
fine (as far as I can tell; it certainly did NOT segfault).
I did notice that lib-mcrypt 2.2.4 won't even build properly with PHP 4. I
mean, mcrypt builds fine, but PHP bombs out looking for some constants that
apparently aren't there in 2.2.4 (but were there for 2.2).
Just FYI.
Mark
