You mean that only PHP 4.0 will interprete a non-constant
require() as include()? Yes, that would match the output I got.
Thies is correct. require with a non-constant isn't really legal. However, so that people don't get bitten by this, especially when upgrading from 3.0 we automatically convert the require() to an include() in case it's a non-constant expression.
