How do I change PHP 4.0B3-RC2 to reference mysql.sock in a location
other than /tmp/mysql.sock (i.e. /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock)?
Is there a compilation directive or php.ini entry that I've missed?
Regards,
Jack Lauman

Sinisa:
Thank you for your prompt response. I have included the following in
/etc/my.cnf. I can connect to MySQL from any of the unix hosts on the
system as well as NT 4.0 hosts.
PHP insists on using /tmp/mysql.sock. I'm open to suggestion.
PHP 4.0B2 compiled and worked without any MySQL problems, however PHP
include and require statements all failed. PHP 4.0-B3-RC2 has
apparently fixed the include/request problem but now it can't connect
to MySQL.
The following is the current contents of /etc/my.cnf:
# This will be passed to all mysql clients
[client]
#password = my_password
port = 3306
socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
# Here is entries for some specific programs
# The following values assume you have at least 32M ram
# The MySQL server
[mysqld]
port = 3306
socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
skip-locking
set-variable = key_buffer=16M
set-variable = max_allowed_packet=1M
set-variable = thread_stack=128K
# Start logging
log
[mysqldump]
quick
set-variable = max_allowed_packet=16M
[mysql]
no-auto-rehash
[isamchk]
set-variable = key_buffer=16M
