I have. I have apache 1.3.9, php3 and php4 in the same server.

Are you using mod_frontpage? Don't, it is a security risk. If you must,
then you need to recompile php after installing mod_fp, because mod_fp
patches part of apache structures, hence the need to then recompile other
apache modules.
Possible the problem is people using <?php ?> code tags which front page
generally breaks. Stick to <% %> which front page likes, but you will need
to enabled asp_tags in your php ini file.
