beta 3 configure problems with mysql

I keep getting errors trying to configure 4b3 with mysql support. Since I
have rpm based mysql distribution I initially used the --with-mysql=/usr
approach and got the error that "unable to find mysql.h" . I then tried
just the default --with-mysql configure and got the same error. I then
did a search on my whole filesystem for mysql.h and found nothing.
However I _do_ have mysql up and running fine with apache/php3. Any ideas?
