Hello,
I posted a questionto the PHP mailing list some time ago concerning my
problem gettingPHP4 beta 2 to work with a NS Enterprise webserver on Solaris
2.6, running, of course, as a CGI app. I finally got things to work. I had to
incorporate the 'redirect_cgi' business and all the other tips on getting PHP
to work with NS.
I downloaded PHP4 beta 3 a while ago, and still have *not* been
able to get it to work with NS Enterprise (4.0). I left all the
server configuration items untouched, I only rebuilt PHP. But it fails. Darn it.
I wonder if anyone has succeeded in getting PHP4 beta 3 to work on Solaris,
again, with NS Enterprise webserver (4.0).
The attempted page read produces "server error", of course on a
page that works fine with beta 2. I can switch back and forth easily
enough between b2 and b3, keeping everything else the same.
The webserver error log file reports:
failure ( 5419): for host 134.79.112.176 trying to GET /test.php,
cgieng_scan_headers reports: the CGI program /opt/php/bin/php did
not produce a valid header (name without value: got line "-------------------
--
------------------")
I can't quite guess what this means, although it seems to be telling me
a lot. This 'test.php' file, in its entirety is:
<html>
<body>
Below is a line produced by PHP
<p>
<?php $myvar = "Hello Earth\n"; echo $myvar; ?>
<p>
Just passed a line produced by PHP
</body>
</html>
The new php works fine when run from the command line.
Mostly, I wonder if it *can* work in a web environment at all?
Thanks very much,
in frustration,
