Hi, I am just after a opinion.
I have been looking at a problem that someone has been having with
php4-b3 and Easysoft ODBC-ODBC bridge, when using persistent
connections.
What is going on is that the bridge default to dropping a connect if a
time-out period expires, the code in php_odbc.c assumes that once a
persistent connection is there it will stay for ever. In fact the code
it's self makes passing mention to that...
/* XXX we should ensure that the connection is still available */
db_conn = (odbc_connection *)le->ptr;
Now the simple solution is to disable the time-outs in our server,
however, I wondered if people thought it was worth adding some code to
check the connection, and purge it if it has gone down since it was
last used.
I am not asking anyone to do this, I will (unless someone want's to)
but I just wondered what the consensus on this would be ?
