GD, PHP4, Apache 1.3.9 Problems

Hi everyone-- I am trying to get a build of PHP with all the options I want...adding each at a time and compiling/testing. Right now I am getting stuck at GD. When I do the ./configure and include GD support...it can never find the libgd.a (but its there in /usr/local/lib) I also know that gd.h is in the right place (/usr/local/include/gd.h). Here is my simple configure settings: ./configure --with-apache=../apache_1.3.9 \ --with-config-file-path=/etc/php4 \ --enable-track-vars \ --enable-magic-quotes \ --enable-trans-sid \ --with-gd=/usr/local/lib and at the end it spits out: checking whether to include GD support... configure: error: Unable to find libgd.(a|so) anywhere under /usr/local/lib What am I missing? I really hate sending these questions to the mailing list, but I am at a loss here. If there are some docs I should be reading to find this info out in....Puhleez let me know :-) BTW - I am using GD 1.7.3 compiled and installed from source. My kernel source is 2.2.13ac3 if it matters. And I am using the PHP4beta3 source...not CVS or any other snapshot. Thanks in advance, --Bryan
