Just a small correction. You can't really call the Zend engine a parser anymore. In PHP 3, scripts were continuously parsed and that's why we called it a parser. In PHP 4, parsing is only done in the beginning and during execution no parsing is actually done. So I'd say the "scripting engine" or the "executor" keeps a reference of the object :) Sorry but it's just annoying to still have ppl call it a parser.
