php-4.0b3 on Irix 6.3 installation

I'm having a problem installing php-4.0b3 on an Irix 6.3 machine with 192 MB of RAM. Here's my configure script: ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --with-mysql=/usr/local/webfiles/mysql \ --enable-magic-quotes \ --enable-track-vars I installed GNU make, but I still run into the following during the 'make' process: /bin/sh ./libtool --silent --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I/usr/local/webfiles/php-4.0b3/./libzend -I. -g -O2 -g -mlong-calls -c -o zend_execute.lo zend_execute.c /var/tmp/cca004Jm.s: Assembler messages: /var/tmp/cca004Jm.s:1125: Error: Branch out of range /var/tmp/cca004Jm.s:1142: Error: Branch out of range (30 or 40 additional our of range messages follow.) I added the -mlong-calls to the libzend/Makefile as per the GCC docs located at http://bokka.ru.orebro.se/~sparky/html/linux/man/gcc.html I get the same error with and without the -mlong-calls option.
