It seems the md5() only returns a 32 byte hex checksum
and has no facilites to return a 16 byte binary checksum
or 22 byte base64 checksum.
Is Lachlan Roche (md5 author) still an active developer ?
I notice there is a UDP option to fsockopen(), and it works.
For anyone interested you prepend "udp://" to the first host
argument of fsockopen(). Really cool :-)
