I got this from Dreamweaver site but it may be out of date:
How can I use the proprietary PHP server-side HTML embedded scripting
language in Dreamweaver?
Product: Dreamweaver Platform: All Versions: 1 and above ID: 13362
Issue
How can I use the proprietary PHP server-side HTML embedded scripting
language in Dreamweaver?
Reason
Dreamweaver currently does not support the proprietary PHP server-side HTML
embedded scripting language because this language is not part of the
official HTML 3.2 Specification.
Solution
You need to properly comment out the proprietary PHP source code so that
Dreamweaver does not attempt to correct these lines of code. You can do this
by adding an "!" before the first"?" in each line of PHP code. Adding the
"!" will not make your PHP source code invalid.
Example: Before:
<? echo("this is the simplest, an SGML processing instruction\n"); ?>
<?php echo("if you want to serve XML documents, do like this\n"); ?>
After:
<!? echo("this is the simplest, an SGML processing instruction\n"); ?>
<!?php echo("if you want to serve XML documents, do like this\n"); ?>
Keywords: PHP, server-side, embedded scripting language
