Eric, I saw that in the php.ini file, but I did not think it was required. I don't think I setup that in my php3.ini server setup and yet it works there. I guess this is a new requirement, because I checked and it was not in my php3.ini and you were correct that adding it to php.ini for the beta made the simple code below work just fine.
