Error when building apache_1.3.9 with php4.03b

I am trying to build apache 1.3.9 with php4.03b as a module on S.u.S.E.
Linux 6.2.
$
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --activate-module=src/modules/php4/li
bphp4.a
$ make
There are some undefined references to:
php_regexec
php_regcomp
php_regfree
libphp4.a(reg.o): Infunction php3_split
libphp4.a(url.o):In function url_parse
make[2] *** [target_static] Error1
make[1] *** [build-std] Error 2
The same procedure works with php4.02b without any error.
Is there any help ?
