mHash 0.6.1 and PHP 4.0B3

Installed mHash 0.6.1 - Fri Jan 28 17:30:01 EST 2000 - jeff
When I compiled PHP 4.0B3 with mHash, I get a segfault in libc_r.
Fine without it. Should I make sure that mHash is linking w/o using
pthreads?
