First the vitals: AIX 4.2.1 Power PC. Apache 1.3.11 PHP4 CVS I have successfully compiled this exact source earlier today, but this error seems to pop up sporadically. In case it matters, the only difference between my earlier attempt (which succeeded) and this one is that I changed --with-openlink to --with-iodbc, to try to solve some problems I've been having with ODBC. Here's the error: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I/usr/local/lib/php4dev/php4/ext/standard -I../ .. -I../../Zend -I/usr/local/lib/php4dev/php4 -I/usr/local/lib/apache_1.3.11 /src /include -I/usr/local/lib/apache_1.3.11/src/os/unix -I/usr/local/include -I/ usr/ local/lib/mysql/include -I/usr/local/lib/include -D_REENTRANT -O2 -g -Wall -c crypt.c && touch crypt.lo crypt.c: In function `php_if_crypt': crypt.c:122: `PHP3_MAX_SALT_LEN' undeclared (first use in this function) crypt.c:122: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once crypt.c:122: for each function it appears in.) crypt.c:122: size of array `salt' has non-integer type crypt.c: At top level: crypt.c:113: warning: `php_to64' defined but not used make: The error code from the last command is 1. I saw something similar in the archives, and Sascha told the person to post the output of the config.log, so here it is: configure:15518: checking for crypt in -lcrypt configure:15577: checking for getcwd configure:15605: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L/u sr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/lib -L/us r/lo cal/lib/lib conftest.c -ldl -liodbc -lmysqlclient -lldap -lm -lnsl -llber 1>&5 configure:15632: checking for getwd configure:15660: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L/u sr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/lib -L/us r/lo cal/lib/lib conftest.c -ldl -liodbc -lmysqlclient -lldap -lm -lnsl -llber 1>&5 configure:15715: checking for standard DES crypt configure:15737: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L/u sr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/lib -L/us r/lo cal/lib/lib conftest.c -ldl -liodbc -lmysqlclient -lldap -lm -lnsl -llber 1>&5 configure: failed program was: #line 15726 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" main() { #if HAVE_CRYPT exit (strcmp((char *)crypt("rasmuslerdorf","rl"),"rl.3StKT.4T8M")); #else exit(0); #endif } configure:15770: checking for extended DES crypt configure:15792: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L/u sr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/lib -L/us r/lo cal/lib/lib conftest.c -ldl -liodbc -lmysqlclient -lldap -lm -lnsl -llber 1>&5 configure: failed program was: #line 15781 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" main() { #if HAVE_CRYPT exit (strcmp((char *)crypt("rasmuslerdorf","_J9..rasm"),"_J9..rasmBYk8r9AiWN c")); #else exit(0); #endif } configure:15825: checking for MD5 crypt configure:15856: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L/u sr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/lib -L/us r/lo cal/lib/lib conftest.c -ldl -liodbc -lmysqlclient -lldap -lm -lnsl -llber 1>&5 configure: failed program was: #line 15836 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" main() { #if HAVE_CRYPT char salt[15], answer[40]; salt[0]='$'; salt[1]='1'; salt[2]='$'; salt[3]='r'; salt[4]='a'; salt[5]='s'; salt[6]='m'; salt[7]='u'; salt[8]='s'; salt[9]='l'; salt[10]='e'; salt[11]='$'; salt[12]='\0'; strcpy(answer,salt); strcat(answer,"rISCgZzpwk3UhDidwXvin0"); exit (strcmp((char *)crypt("rasmuslerdorf",salt),answer)); #else exit(0); #endif } configure:15889: checking for Blowfish crypt configure:15917: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L/u sr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql/lib -L/usr/local/lib/lib -L/us r/lo cal/lib/lib conftest.c -ldl -liodbc -lmysqlclient -lldap -lm -lnsl -llber 1>&5 configure: failed program was: #line 15900 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" main() { #if HAVE_CRYPT char salt[25], answer[70]; salt[0]='$'; salt[1]='2'; salt[2]='a'; salt[3]='$'; salt[4]='0'; salt[5]='7' ; salt[6]='$'; salt[7]='\0'; strcat(salt,"rasmuslerd"); strcpy(answer,salt); strcpy(&answer[16],"O............gl95GkTKn53Of.H4YchXl5PwvvW.5ri"); exit (strcmp((char *)crypt("rasmuslerdorf",salt),answer)); #else exit(0); #endif } configure:15974: checking for Sybase support Like I said, it seems to sporadically work / not work, but I've seen this enough times that I have to believe that somethings a little fishy... Any ideas? Brian
