Hi there,
in php3 I ran in to trouble using persistent connections
to a mysql-database. They were persistent allright but
they where never reused. Within milliseconds all slots
filled up and subsequent connecting was refused.
So I turned to using mysql_connect() and explicitly closing
every connection at the end of every script..
This works just fine, but I still think it would be neater
to use persistent connections, eliminating the overhead of
connecting and closing over and over again! Therefore I tried
it again with php4b3, but the same problem occurs :(
Now am I doing something wrong or is this a problem that php4
has inherited from php3? .. and if I'm doing something wrong
what is the correct way to use persistent connections?
cheers!
Bram
