Hi Over the past week I have been working on an almost complete rewrite of the NNTP web interface (news.php.net) using the new theme. Whilst being worked out I fixed many bugs that the current web interface have and I have added some new features which I would like to commit SVN so it can be improved along the way with the current redesign. The interface can be seen at: http://www.tuxxedo.net/phpdotnet/news/ New features I have added: - Preferences, much like the my.php script in phpweb, some of the options are more to test some features if they would work or not on the live site which can be changed as we go. This includes the ability to change the language of the interface, danish is available as to test here. - Better quotations, using a CSS based approach rather than a monospace one. - People can subscribe or unsubscribe to a group in the message listing, this is integrated using the same components as used in mailing-lists.php from phpweb. Some notable bugs I have fixed: - Parsing of attachments and the way they are able to be downloaded. This was pretty broken in many cases and the attachment data would be shown when viewing a message. - Minor updates to the pagination on message listing. - Next button when reading a message now checks if the next message is valid, in the current newsweb thats not the case. - Fixed the message display error that Alexy Slein from doc-ru reported - Fixed bug #51543 - Fixed encoding errors that would cause some messages not to be shown Further more, I have got some feedback which I would like to work on that includes: - Better index, currently the news group list is just one big list that could be split up into columns - Cross browser rendering issues, currently the code have only been developed using Opera. So with kind permission, I would like to have web or web/php-news karma to commit this. -- regards, Kalle Sommer Nielsen kalle@php.net
