There is a user note that specifically provides incorrect information about
the $_FILES superglobal (see
http://us.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.files.php#106008).
The post in question is:

02:48<http://us.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.files.php#106008>
The [type] member of the array is the mime of the uploaded file. each file
should have a mime that tells you what type of tile it is. it is NOT taken
from the browser or extension.
However, elsewhere in the manual, it is stated that the ['type'] member IS
provided by the client and not provided from or checked by PHP. I have thus
posted a note citing the part of the manual that says this, to keep people
from making bad decisions based on incorrect information; if the incorrect
note is removed, I have no problem with my note being removed as well.
Thanks!
