general list subscription

Sorry for the question I am attempting to subscribe to the general discussions list. I was subscribed up until a few months ago. I am returning to ask a specific question about Ajax. There has been an extraordinary delay in receiving the confirmation e-mail, after several hours I have not received one. Is my address on someone's s**t list? Or is there just a technical delay? Thanks This is not the first time I have failed to receive a confirmation message. It has happened from another site registration process. JK
