one doubt about friendly urls+php

Hello.. I am from Brazil and I am trying make friendly urls using the server apache and the file .htaccess I already search in many places the answer, but I didn't find, asked to many people and nothing. ok lets go: my code (.htaccess): RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z0-9-]+)/?$ index.php?menu=$1 [NC,L] RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z0-9-]+)/?([A-Za-z0-9-]+)/?$ index.php/?menu=$1&submenu=$2 [NC,L] If I call it <a href="./loja"> the page open normally.. but if I call <a href="./loja/y"> only some elements in the page load= error and other thing If I put this form: RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z0-9-]+)/?$ index.php?menu=$1 [NC,L] RewriteRule ^([A-Za-z0-9-]+)&?([A-Za-z0-9-]+)/?$ index.php/?menu=$1&submenu=$2 [NC,L] and I call <a href="./loja&y"> it's right, the page open right but I dont want the symbol "&" .. I want a bar "/" Have you some idea "why" is happen?
