Because of the link and information about the pub being far more prominent than the event itself, and mentioning nothing on the linked page about PHP or your specific event, it may be confusing or appear as SPAM unless one pays more attention. Further, it's not as likely to garner the response you'd like from local folks who may be interested in joining your gathering. Please resubmit the event with more information about what goes on in the gathering (".... where we discuss changes and trends in PHP5 and how to best-prepare for production usage of PHP6, all while networking with peers and beers...."). You may also include the link to the pub's page, as you did.
