No, the 5.2 and 5.3 branches are separate. It's common for both
major and minor versions to co-exist; if you noticed in the past, we
would release versions of PHP4 long after PHP5 was released and
adopted by the majority. The same will happen to PHP5 as PHP6 reaches
production stability.
