You want to ask this question via the following:

But as for the main search at php.net, it uses Yahoo as the backend where we let them do the
difficult work. We also scour the manual and rank/insert keywords into an sqlite database, and use
that to redirect specific matches. And we manually keep track of several within the 404 handler.
And, a fallback (if the mirror is missing sqlite support) uses filenames where, for example, it
checks for the file function.strlen.php when someone enters 'strlen'.
Also the following may help although I doubt it, and think you should look for an example elsewhere
(not at php.net) because the php.net system has grown complex over the years and eventually will be
rewritten. So here's the beginning of that process:
