Andy,
In PHP3 days i tried both Borland (free;) and cygwin... couldn't get either
working though. Was told by a core developer (cant rememeber who) that
Borland would probably never work, and that cygwin may work (but i never got
it to..).
Unfortunatly i dont have an Oracle 8 to test the oci stuff against so i
really cant help, but if you are using an abstraction layer i could compile
up a ORA set and test it for sometime this weekend.

I've got another php_oci8.dll question, perhaps someone may know the answer.
I
don't have a copy of VC++ available, but I do have both the Borland Free C++
Compiler 5.5 and Cygwin 1.1.2. I haven't tried compiling PHP or the oracle
dlls
with these yet (downloaded them yesterday). Anyone know of any issues or
have
tried compiling with these? Anything I should worry about... I'll be
compiling
with COPIES of the sourcecode of course, backing up everything as I go...
but as
I haven't done any C work in years (since college), I'm a bit sqeemish about
mucking something up.
Any suggestions?
