When I does :
$dom = xmldoc(searchitems("03000")); // searchitems returns a XML string
$root = $dom->root();
/* or $root = domxml_root($dom); */
print_r($root);
it gives me no problems (php4.1.0 win32 as ISAPI on IIS5.1).
