completed in n seconds

is there a way to display through php the speed of a mysql operation (like when you use the mysql client you get the result (n seconds) at the end of the output). thanks in advance. also thank you to all the nice and very helpful people in this mailing list. // hugely off topic yea, i noticed people who've helped someone dont get the thanks. i just hope they know that the people they've helped are grateful. also i think they're happy just to help, thanks or no thanks. so to all the helpful people who haven't receive some form of thanks, here's a big THANK YOU.
