Hi I've been trying to follow some installation instructions I found at a website called thickbook.com on how to "Setup and Install Apache + PHP4 on Windows 98" but I am getting no success with php-4.0.1pl2-Win32. Firstly the guy states that Apache will run "out of the box" but I have found this not to be the case. I need to change and uncomment #Servername in the httpd.conf. As soon as I do this then Apache will run. My browser will then work fine on HTML pages and starting/stopping Apache appears normal. I then try to setup PHP4 but as soon as I load the test php page (phpinfo.php) into IE5, the browser stalls but does not timeout. Other problems occur now such as I cannot stop Apache running and I notice the DOS window that is(was?) running Apache has changed it's name from "Apache" to "php". This name change occurs as soon as I try to open the php page. I have pressed ctrl-alt-del to see what was running and I noticed something called Winoldap is in there. Should it be? It appears to me that I must have a path wrong as the php files in my root directory c:\apache\htdocs have a questionmark on them. However, I have followed the instructions explicitly so I am puzzled as to what is wrong if his works perfectly as mentioned. These are what I have added to in "httd.conf" at the relevant places. ScriptAlias /php4/ "C:/php4/" AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml AddType application/x-httpd-php .php4 AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps Action application/x-http-php "/php4/php.exe" I have tried many different permutations of these. with and without "", all application extensions on same line, using c:/,. On one occassion after about 30 seconds, the PHP info screen appeared but only after a number of error messages relating MySQL clients. I checked the php.ini and this is commented out so I am well truly stuck. When I reloaded the page again it did not appear again and simply "hung". Anybody care to enlighten me ??? Tim
