10.000 users a day or a hour or minute or ??? 10.000 user a days should not be a problem for a database to keep track on. User leaving without logging out properly is something one has to live with, and that's why you need to implement some kind of "watch dog"... A timestamp in the "user tracker table" might be a good start. But my suggestion has nothing to do with php, but database system design. //Anders -----Original Message----- From: Guru P Chaturvedi To: php-windows@lists.php.net Sent: 2003-05-10 13:03 Subject: Re: [PHP-WIN] Tracking online users Hi, Why i say that db operation is a burdon. Most of the users won't logout properly thus leavin an entry in the database. Also nearly 10000 users enter the site so going for a db entry isn't that preferable. Isn't there any concept of Application variables like in ASP. Or can i know any ways of tracking session start and expiries ? Please lemme know if you guys have any alternatives. thanks, guru.
